3. The Novesta Township Board has purchased a property at 3320 Cemetery Rd. Cass City, MI. from the Tuscola County Treasurer because of property tax forfeiture. The purchase price was $5,971.20 for a house, garage and 11.76 acres. The long range goal is to renovate the house into a township hall and develop a cemetery. We are within 2 lots (8 grave sites each) at the township cemetery of not having anymore full lots to sell. The sale of lots and graves off set the cost of maintenance of the cemetery so less money needs to come out of the general township fund for these costs. We have tried over the past 5 years to buy more land  which would border the existing township cemetery without any luck. The condition of the township hall in Deford is such that spending money to upgrade the building is not cost effective especially when you consider the purchase price of the new property. The location of the new property is more centrally located in the township and the property will let us  have running water, bathroom facilities, and a fire rated records storage room.
This project will take time to develop with money gradually being spent over a period of years to renovate the property. We believe that this is the most prudent way to take care of the township government and cemetery needs into the distant future.
On 02/01/2011, the Novesta Township Planning Commission granted the Novesta Township Board a special land use permit for parcel # 018-010-000-1500-05 commonly known has 3320 Cemetery Rd. Cass City, MI. 48726 for use as a township hall and cemetery grounds.
Anyone wishing to get a copy of the proposed site plan please contact Dale Churchill.

On 02/01/2011 the Novesta Township Zoning Boards of Appeals granted a variance to Air Advantage, LLC for construction of a 150 foot tower on parcel # 018-529-100-1700 commonly known as 5847 Bruce St. Deford, MI. 48729 which is owned by the Tuscola County Road Commission. This variance concerned Article XII, Section 12.12(C)2 of the Novesta Township Zoning Ordinance which is a setback rule applying to the height of the tower and setbacks to adjoining property. Zoning Board of Appeals members agreed that erection of the tower and the additional availability of Internet service that it would provide was in the best interest of township residents.
